Zots Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies specifically to Zots, our mindful counter and schedule tracker.

Zots is part of the Zovia Studio family of apps. This privacy policy describes data collection specific to Zots. For our complete privacy practices across all Zovia apps, see our main Privacy Policy.

What Information Zots Collects

Account Information

  • Email address (for sign-in and account recovery)
  • Display name (optional)
  • Password (encrypted, never stored in plain text)
  • Authentication tokens (if you use Google or Apple Sign-In)

Your Tracking Data

The counters and schedules you create in Zots:

  • Counters: Names, current counts, goals, increment/decrement history
  • Schedules: Names, frequencies (daily, weekly, custom), completion status
  • Completion history: When you marked counters or schedules complete
  • Notes: Any notes you add to counters or schedules
  • Categories and tags: How you organize your tracking
  • Reminders: When you want to be reminded about schedules

Shared Spaces

If you use Spaces to share tracking with others (family, friends, roommates, accountability partners, etc.):

  • Space names (e.g., "Family Habits", "Fitness Buddies")
  • Email addresses of members you invite
  • Member permissions (viewer, editor, admin)
  • All members can see shared counters, schedules, and completion history

Technical and Usage Data

  • Device information (phone model, OS version)
  • App version
  • Crash reports and error logs (to fix bugs)
  • Which features you use (not what you're tracking)
  • Performance metrics (load times, sync speed)

What Zots Does NOT Collect

Zots is designed to be simple and privacy-focused. We intentionally do NOT collect:

  • Photos or images: Zots doesn't use your camera or photo library.
  • Your location: We don't track where you are.
  • AI scanning or voice data: Zots has no AI features that process personal data.
  • Contacts: We never access your phone's contact list.
  • Browsing history: We don't track what you do outside Zots.
  • Advertising IDs: We don't use your device ID for advertising.

How We Use Your Zots Data

We use your data solely to provide Zots' features:

  • Store and sync your counters and schedules across devices
  • Track completion history and progress over time
  • Send reminders for scheduled habits
  • Enable offline access (local device storage)
  • Manage shared Spaces and permissions
  • Display statistics and visualizations of your tracking data
  • Fix bugs and improve app performance
  • Provide customer support when you contact us

We do NOT: Sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for marketing.

How We Protect Your Data

Cloud Storage

Your tracking data is stored securely on Back4App (Parse Server) with enterprise-grade encryption (AES-256 at rest, TLS in transit).

Local Device Storage

For offline access, Zots caches your data on your device using secure encrypted storage. Data syncs when you're back online.

Minimal Data Collection

Zots collects only what's necessary to track your habits. No photos, no voice, no location—just the simple tracking data you create.

Your Privacy Rights

Export Your Tracking Data

Go to Settings → Data Export to download all your Zots data as JSON or CSV.

Delete Your Account

Two ways to delete all your Zots data:

Control schedule reminders and push notifications at Settings → Notifications.

Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In

Optional authentication methods. We receive only your email and name.

Note: Zots does NOT use AI services, analytics for advertising, or location services.

Children's Privacy

Zots is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at hello@zovia.studio and we'll delete it immediately.
