You Control Your Data

Delete your app data or entire account anytime, right from the app. No email required.

Two Types of Deletion

You can delete data from a specific app or delete your entire Zovia account. Both options are available directly in the app, no email required.

Delete App Data Only

Delete data from one app (e.g., just Zots) while keeping your Zovia account and other apps intact. **Preserves:** Your account, other apps, purchase history **Deletes:** Only data from the selected app

Delete Entire Zovia Account

Permanently delete your Zovia account and ALL data across ALL apps. **Deletes:** Everything, account, all app data, settings **Preserves:** Anonymized purchase records (for legal compliance) **Warning:** This cannot be undone

Signing Out vs. Deleting Data

Important distinction. **Signing out does NOT delete your data.** Your data stays in your Zovia account on our servers. You can sign back in on any device using your 28-character recovery code, your QR pairing code from another signed-in device, or your passkey if you enabled one.

Want to actually delete your data?

Use the Delete My Data flow described below. Signing out only removes your session from this device. Deleting your data is a separate, intentional action.

How to Delete Data

**In-App Deletion Process:**

Steps (All Apps)

  • 1. Open any Zovia app (Zistil, Zots, Zyve, Zuzzle, Zupply, Zynq, ComingUp, or Zarden)
  • 2. Go to your **Profile** (tap profile icon in top navigation)
  • 3. Scroll down and tap **"Delete My Data"**
  • 4. You'll see the Privacy Dashboard with two options:
  • • **Delete [App Name] Data Only** - Deletes only this app's data
  • • **Delete Entire Zovia Account** - Deletes everything
  • 5. Choose your deletion type
  • 6. Read the warning carefully
  • 7. Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode
  • 8. Type **DELETE** to confirm
  • 9. Tap **Confirm Deletion**
  • 10. Your data will be deleted immediately

Biometric Confirmation Required

Every deletion action (app data or full account) requires a fresh biometric or device-passcode confirmation. This protects your data from accidental deletion or someone with brief physical access to your unlocked phone.

What Gets Deleted (App-Specific)

  • **Zistil:** All inventory items, photos, structure templates, spaces you own
  • **Zots:** All counters, schedules, history, reminders, target goals
  • **Zyve:** All calendar activities, places, schedules, family data, intelligence cache
  • **Zupply:** All list items, pantry, receipts, store visits, recipes, variants
  • **Zuzzle:** All game progress, scores, achievements, unlocks
  • **Zynq:** All check-ins, alerts, nudges, caregiver and receiver profiles
  • **ComingUp:** All tracked items, scanned documents, reminder rules
  • **Zarden:** All plants, photos, care logs (when monetization launches)
  • **Preserves:** Your Zovia account, data in other apps, purchase history

Important Notes

  • Deletion happens **immediately**, no grace period or undo
  • You stay signed in after app-specific deletion (can continue using other apps)
  • Purchase history is always preserved (restore purchases anytime)
  • If you own Spaces with other members, ownership transfers automatically

Full Account Deletion

Deleting your entire Zovia account removes ALL your data from ALL Zovia apps permanently.

What Happens During Account Deletion

  • 1. **Account marked dormant:** Your account is marked as deleted (not fully removed for audit compliance)
  • 2. **All app data deleted:** Data from every Zovia app you used is permanently removed
  • 3. **Spaces handled:** Ownership transfers to next member, or Space is deleted if you're the only member
  • 4. **Devices cleared:** All devices signed out, push notification tokens removed
  • 5. **Sessions terminated:** You're signed out everywhere immediately
  • 6. **Passkeys revoked:** Public keys on our server are removed (your private keys remain in iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager until you remove them there)
  • 7. **Analytics deleted:** All usage data, crash reports, performance data removed

What We Keep (Legal Compliance)

  • **Purchase records (anonymized):** Transaction IDs kept for tax/fraud prevention, but unlinked from your identity
  • **Deletion audit log:** Record that deletion occurred on a specific date (GDPR/CCPA compliance)
  • **Encrypted backups (temporary):** Deleted data may persist in backups for up to 30 days before permanent purge

After Deletion

  • Your previous 28-character recovery code is permanently invalidated
  • QR pairing codes you generated are invalidated
  • Passkeys you enabled for Zovia are revoked on our server (delete them from iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager separately)
  • You can create a fresh Zovia account by opening any app and tapping "I'm new" (starts fresh, no data restored)
  • Purchases are **non-refundable** after deletion (request refunds from Apple/Google **before** deleting)
  • Data **cannot be recovered**, deletion is permanent

What Gets Deleted (Full Account)

When you delete your entire account, we permanently remove:

Account & Authentication

Anonymous device credential, 28-character recovery code hash, optional email (if you added one), display name, passkey public keys, active session tokens, device records

All App Data Across ALL Apps

**Zistil:** Inventory items, photos, structure templates, custom categories **Zots:** Counters, schedules, history, reminders, target goals **Zyve:** Calendar activities, places, schedules, family data, recurring events, intelligence cache **Zupply:** List items, pantry, receipts (with discounts), store visits, recipes, variants, matching memory **Zuzzle:** Game progress, scores, achievements, unlocks, saved games **Zynq:** Check-ins, alerts, nudges, caregiver and receiver profiles **ComingUp:** Tracked items, scanned documents, reminder rules **Zarden:** Plants, photos, care logs (when monetization launches)

Shared Data & Spaces

**Spaces you own:** Ownership transfers to next active member (or deleted if you're the only member) **Spaces you're a member of:** You're removed, but Space remains intact **Shared items:** Converted to anonymous contributions or deleted based on policy

Devices & Notifications

Device IDs, push notification tokens (FCM), active sessions across all devices, notification preferences, paired devices

Analytics & Usage Data

Feature usage patterns, crash reports, performance logs, analytics events, session recordings

Technical Details

Understanding how deletion works behind the scenes:

Dormant Accounts

When you delete your account, it's marked as **dormant** rather than fully removed. Your account record is replaced with a unique dormant ID, and authentication is disabled. This allows us to: • Maintain audit trail for GDPR/CCPA compliance • Preserve anonymized financial records legally • Prevent immediate account recreation tied to the old identity

Deletion is Immediate

When you confirm deletion, your data is removed from production servers **immediately**. There is no grace period, no soft delete, no 30-day waiting period. It's gone right away.

Backup Retention (30 Days)

Deleted data may remain in encrypted database backups for up to 30 days before permanent purge. These backups are: • Not accessible to anyone (including our team) • Automatically deleted after 30 days • Cannot be used for data recovery • Fully encrypted at rest

Important Reminders

Export Before Deleting

We cannot recover your data after deletion. If you have important photos, inventory lists, or other data, **export it first** using the Privacy Dashboard's export feature.

Purchases Are Non-Refundable

Deleting your account does not trigger automatic refunds. If you purchased Premium or Gold tier and want a refund, request it through Apple App Store or Google Play Store **before** deleting your account.

Shared Spaces Ownership

If you own Spaces with other members, ownership automatically transfers to the next active member when you delete your account. If you're the only member, the Space and all its contents are deleted.

Can You Come Back?

Yes. After deleting your account, you can create a fresh Zovia account anytime by opening any app and tapping "I'm new." Your previous data will **not** be restored. You'll start completely fresh with a new anonymous device credential and a new 28-character recovery code.
