Zistil Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies specifically to Zistil, our home inventory app.

Zistil is part of the Zovia Studio family of apps. This privacy policy describes data collection specific to Zistil. For our complete privacy practices across all Zovia apps, see our main Privacy Policy.

What Information Zistil Collects

Account Information

  • • Email address (for sign-in and account recovery)
  • • Display name (optional)
  • • Password (encrypted, never stored in plain text)
  • • Authentication tokens (if you use Google or Apple Sign-In)

Your Inventory Data

The items and locations you create in Zistil:

  • • Location Hierarchy: Units (home, office), rooms, and storage spaces you create
  • • Items: Names, categories, quantities, and expiry dates
  • • Item Locations: Which storage space each item is placed in
  • • Privacy Flags: Whether items are marked as private in shared spaces

Shared Spaces

If you use Spaces to share inventory with family or household members:

  • • Space names
  • • Email addresses of members you invite
  • • Item ownership (who added which items)
  • • All members can see shared inventory data (except private items)

Technical and Usage Data

  • • Device information (phone model, OS version)
  • • App version
  • • Crash reports and error logs (to fix bugs)
  • • Which features you use (not what items you create)
  • • Performance metrics (load times, sync speed)

What Zistil Does NOT Collect

  • Photos or images: Zistil does not collect, store, or process any photos. It's a text-based inventory app.
  • Voice or audio: Zistil has no voice features. We don't access your microphone.
  • Location tracking: Zistil does not access your GPS location. Storage locations are just text labels you create.
  • Camera access: Zistil does not use your camera. No barcode scanning, no photo capture.
  • Browsing history: We don't track what you do outside Zistil.
  • Selling your data: We never sell your personal data to third parties.
  • Display advertising: Zistil has no ads of any kind.

Permissions We Don't Request

Zistil is intentionally simple. We don't ask for:

  • • Camera (no photo or barcode features)
  • • Microphone (no voice features)
  • • Location (no GPS features)
  • • Contacts (no contact sync)
  • • Photo Library (no image storage)

How We Use Your Zistil Data

We use your data solely to provide Zistil's features:

  • • Store and sync your inventory across devices
  • • Send low stock and expiry alert notifications
  • • Generate insights (organization health, category breakdown)
  • • Manage shared Spaces with household members
  • • Fix bugs and improve app performance
  • • Provide customer support when you contact us

We do NOT: Sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for marketing.

How We Protect Your Data

Cloud Storage

Your inventory data is stored securely on Back4App (Parse Server) with enterprise-grade encryption (AES-256 at rest, TLS in transit).

Local Device Storage

For faster access, Zistil caches your inventory on your device. Data syncs when you're online.

Your Privacy Rights

Delete Your Account

Two ways to delete all your Zistil data:

Manage Notifications

Control low stock and expiry alert notifications in the app's notification preferences.

Private Items

In shared Spaces, you can mark items as private. Private items are only visible to you, even when sharing with family members.

Third-Party Services Zistil Uses

Back4App (Parse Server)

What it does: Cloud database hosting for all inventory data, sync, and user accounts.

What it does: Push notifications (FCM) and crash analytics.

Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In

What it does: Optional authentication methods for easy sign-in.
Data received: Email address and display name only. We do NOT get access to your full Google or Apple account.

Children's Privacy

Zistil is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at hello@zovia.studio and we'll delete it immediately.
